Stay Connected With Writer Search & Messaging

Coverfly offers a messaging feature accessible to users 18 years or older. Simply navigate to the Writer Search & Messaging section from the main navigation bar to send or receive messages. Users can search for writers to message and check ongoing conversations.

Users can also do a quick search from the Messaging page by clicking on the red thought bubble icon and typing in the writer’s name. Clicking on the envelope icon or the red “Send a message” button on a user's Coverly profile will start a new message thread.

While the messaging feature opens up a whole new opportunity for writers to connect, selling or promoting businesses through instant messaging without explicit permission from Coverfly is against the Terms of Use.

Messaging May Not Be Your Thing, and That's OK

Online messaging is not for everyone, which is why Coverfly's Writer Search & Messaging includes a privacy feature that provides users with control over their account settings. Users have the option to adjust their account privacy settings, including setting their account to private, turning off messaging, or blocking users.

To adjust privacy settings, navigate to the Settings > Security section. From there, users can choose whether to allow other writers to find their Coverfly profile and can toggle messaging on or off.

Protect Yourself While Messaging Others

Unfortunately, while you are trying to build your online writing community, there could be a user who rubs you the wrong way. Luckily, there is a way to limit your online interactions with this unwelcomed messenger.

To block another user, click the three dots next to their name in Messaging, and select “Block User.” Once the user is blocked, the previous conversation with them will be hidden for both you and the other user.

Clicking the same three dots will also give you the option to report a user who is being abusive or offensive to you. This option will report the user to a Coverfly staff member, who will review the reason, concerns, and screenshots provided to address the appropriate action necessary for the user.
